Karen McMeekan, group secretary said of the May 15 event: “It was a fantastic success! To date we have raised £1048 for people in the east Antrim area affected by cancer.”

The fundraiser was supported by a number of local businesses, with participants enjoying some well-earned cupcakes made by Vicki Bell following the two-hour session.

The 1 in 3 group supports those who are affected by cancer in a number of practical ways.

These include:

- For six months up to four hours a week, the charity will pay for a house cleaner of your choice;

- Six sessions with a counsellor for you and/or a family member;

- Family/memory albums with Colin Metcalfe Photography.

“We also send flowers to people affected by cancer which is really a kind gesture of thanks or recognition and a means of communication for 1 in 3 to introduce themselves,” added Karen.

“We have a Facebook page where you can contact us via private message or you can contact us on our new Freephone number 0300 323 1343 and see if we can help.

“We can only do this while our funds last so thank you to all our fund raisers and to the local people who continue to support us.”
