Hundreds without water after mains burst

HUNDREDS of people in the Ballyearl and Ballycraigy areas were affected by a water mains pipe burst on Friday morning (August 17).

The disruption hit the area shortly after 7am and water was restored by 9.30am.

NI Water said there were 200 calls from residents who had no water supply in their homes.

A spokeswoman for the company said there was no definitive explanation for the water mains bursting.

She added: “There is no definitive explanation for a main bursting, it happened around 7am and was resolved by 9.30am. We only received around 200 calls for no water complaints.”
