Hunt on for Santa’s missing reindeer

Lisburn’s fifth annual great reindeer hunt is now underway. Locals are on the lookout for Santa’s missing reindeer, who have gone to ground in the city as the countdown to Christmas begins in earnest. Eight reindeer in all are hiding in city centre shop windows, awaiting discovery as part of a now well established, fun family event for the festive season.

During November reindeer models were delivered to Lisburn area Primary Schools, where they were artfully decorated by pupils.

The reindeer were lovingly decorated by Forthill, Harmony Hill, Largymore, Meadow Bridge, Killowen, Old Warren, Tonagh, Pond Park and St Joseph’s Primary Schools and Jelly Tots at Island Arts Centre.

The Reindeer Hunt is organised by Lisburn City Centre Management and community artists have helped many of the schools taking part to dress up and decorate their reindeer.

Lisburn City Centre Management Chairman David McCallum said, “The Reindeer Hunt is unique to Lisburn and local schoolchildren have spent countless hours dressing and decorating their reindeer
to make their unique creations.”

Mr McCallum said he hoped the reindeer hunt would encourage families into the city centre to take part over the Christmas period.

“This is the fifth year that the reindeer have been hiding in Lisburn and it continues to be a fun event for all the family,” he said.

“To join in the great Reindeer hunt simply find a store with a reindeer in the window, pop inside and pick up a reindeer hunt card. There are lots of prizes up for grabs; just find eight reindeer to be entered into the prize draw.”
