Iceland store and Morellis ice cream parlour coming to Cookstown

Two well-known retailers are putting the finishing touches to their new premises which are set to open in Cookstown in the coming weeks.

Iceland Foods is set to open a new store on Orritor Retail Park, Cookstown next month.

The retail giant said the new store will create a number of new jobs and offer a greater variety of food shopping in the Cookstown area.

Area Manager, Stephen McCavery says “We are delighted to be opening our new store on Orritor Retail Park. We have wanted to open a store in the Cookstown area for a while, and we are sure that this will be a welcome addition to the community.

“This represents a considerable investment by Iceland foods and reflects our commitment to growth into new areas of the UK.”

Iceland will open on August 19.

Meanwhile, the renowned Morellis Ice Cream, synonymous with trips to the ‘Port’ are opening a new outlet on William Street in Cookstown.

The new ice cream parlour will also create a number of jobs in the local retail sector.

In 2012 Morellis won two first prizes in the UK national Ice cream awards in March of that year they also scooped the prestigious Champion of Champions shield at a special ceremony in London.
