ILEX board paid £96k

THE people of Northern Ireland paid the ILEX board £96k last year, it’s been revealed.

The total cost of remuneration of board members of the regeneration company in 2011/12 was outlined in response to an Assembly Question.

The board currently comprises Matt McNulty (Interim Chairman), Michael Heaney (Director of Community and Cultural Services, Donegal County Council), Professor Deirdre Heenan (Dean of Academic Development University of Ulster), Dame Geraldine Keegan (Past Pro-Chancellor of the University of Ulster), Margaret Lee (Chief Executive and Director of Cresco Trust), Aideen McGinley (Chief Executive), Colm McKenna (Chairman of South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust), Sharon O’Connor (Derry City Council Chief Executive) and Frank Hewitt (Chair of Northern Ireland Science Park).

First Minister Peter Robinson and Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness outlined the expenditure as part of £599,850 paid out to board members of six arm’s-length bodies last year.

Of the six bodies’ boards ILEX was the third most expensive. The others were Strategic Investment Board (£71,000); NI Judicial Appointments Commission (£35,794); Community Relations Council (£18,000); Equality Commission (£175,192); and the Commission for Victims & Survivors (£203,250)
