“With the expected rise in the influx of cultural tourists to the city in 2013, this facelift will improve the aesthetic standard and comfort of theatre and we hope will result in more people going to events at the Millennium Forum thereby boosting the local economy.”

Chief Executive of The Millennium Forum David McLaughlin said: “The Millennium Forum is grateful to Ilex and the Department for Social Development in providing the grant to help refurbish our venue and to the Arts Council of NI for their support in the project.

“All seats in our main auditorium have now been fully re-upholstered and new carpets fitted throughout our building. The benefits of such a refurbishment in terms of the comfort and aesthetics of our building are obvious; customers and visitors can now enjoy the high quality of these fittings, resulting in an enhanced customer experience for everyone availing of the Millennium Forum.”

Social Development Minister Nelson McCausland added: “I am pleased that may Department has been able to provide financial support for this worthwhile project.
