Ill wind blows some good!

IT’S an ill wind that blows nobody any good, so they say, but luckily for one elderly lady a good samaritan saved the day for her in Ballymoney!

In an unusual incident the pensioner was withdrawing cash from an ATM at the Ulster Bank in Church Street last Thursday when a freak gust blew £50 worth of notes out of her hand.

As the cash swirled around in the breeze and threatened to blow away out of reach, an unknown ‘hero’ - only described as a ‘dark-haired gentleman’ - stepped in to save the day.

He was able to pluck the two twenty pound and one ten pound note out of the breeze and return it to the lady who looked on helplessly.

The lady, who wishes to remain anonymous, was out on her daily shopping rounds, when the freak gust stole away her cash.

She told the Times: “I would like to say a big thank-you to the kind gentleman who rushed to my aid. I would have been £50 down if it had not been for the actions of this dark-haired gentleman who dashed into action. And it just shows you there are ‘good samaritans’ out there and a lot of good in the community.”
