Important milestone for borough Council

Mayor of Carrickfergus Alderman Billy Ashe has been appointed to oversee the creation of the new Mid & East Antrim Council.

He was elected chairman of the Mid and East Antrim Statutory Transition Committee which is tasked with building the new local authority.

Ald. Ashe believes this marks an important milestone in Ballymena Borough Council, Larne Borough Council and Carrickfergus Borough Council.

Ald. Ashe said: “This is an exciting time. My focus over the next few months will be to put in place the steps for a smooth transition towards building a strong, modern and effective Mid and East Antrim Council that focuses on our citizens’ needs.”
