Improv king to tickle local audiences

IMPROV innovator Jason Byrne is returning to the Playhouse Theatre for the Big Tickle on July 9!

The fast-talking comedian with a lightening quick mind has confirmed he will be returning to the award-winning theatre for his third victorious Big Tickle performance at the Playhouse.

His fast, free-wheeling style, fused with an array of offbeat props, makes his act a helter-skelter of a show! He's tickled audiences on fast talking TV show "Argumental," the very rude "Podge and Rodge" show, and even cult classic "Father Ted," and now his own comedy panel show, "The Byrne Ultimatum," on RT Two.

He has been one of the fastest selling performers at the last 11 Edinburgh Fringe Festivals, where his sell out shows have attracted Best Headliner Chortle Award in 2007, a nomination for 1998 Perrier Newcomer Award, and then a much revered Perrier Award Nomination for his outstanding 2001 show.

Niall McCaughan, general manager at the Playhouse said: "The Playhouse's Big Tickle has gone from strength to strength, with more and more top-class comedians treading our boards.

"Jason Byrne's inspired, original brand of high-energy comedy means audiences will be laughing for weeks! Tickets for his shows always go quickly so make sure you book your tickets early for his first performance in our newly renovated state-of-the-art venue!"

Jason Byrne will be coming to the Playhouse on Friday, July 9 at 8pm. Tickets are now on sale at the Playhouse Box office on (028)71 268027, priced 15. You can also book online at www.derryplayhouse.co.uk.
