Improvement scheme to start

An announcement was made in February 1980 for the commencement of work on an improvement scheme between Hazelbank and Lismara.

The work, which would cost £32,000 was set to begin in the coming weeks.

The Department of the Environment approved the council’s proposals for grant at the rate of 100 per cent as an environmental improvement scheme.

A report on the sea wall along the foreshore was submitted to the council in August 1979. This report indicated that extensive repairs were necessary. Environmental improvement schemes had been abolished, meaning that work on this scheme had to be started by March 31.

The work on the damaged wall was expected to cost £10,000.
