'˜In Bloom' initiative for council

The local government authority is encouraging everyone who lives in the borough to think about their local environment and it can be enhanced by flowers, plants and gardens.

By actively supporting the ‘In Bloom’ campaign and competitions, residents will not only make their garden, school or business more attractive, but also assist the council’s entry to the Translink Ulster in Bloom competition and the Britain in Bloom competition.

The Mid and East Antrim in Bloom community competition general categories are Best Kept Front Garden; Best Kept Community Planting Scheme; Best Kept Allotment Garden; Best Kept Commercial Premises; and the Gardening for Wildlife Award.

Young people’s (15 and under) categories include the Painting Competition; Poetry Competition; Tallest Sunflower Competition; Best School Project; and the Design a Flower Bed Competition.

There are prizes for winners and runners up in each category and winners and runners up will be invited to an awards ceremony in October.
