In pictures: Police search at Larne's old bleach works

There was a heavy police presence at Larne's old bleach works behind the Inver Park football stadium this morning, believed to be part of the ongoing investigation into Northern Ireland-related terrorism.

A large forensic tent had been erected at the scene, with several police officers and vehicles attending the site.

Detectives from Serious Crime Branch are working with the Metropolitan Police Service’s Counter Terrorism Command on the terrorism investigation, with the PSNI carrying out a number of searches in the Larne area to date.

On Sunday August 28 a search was carried out in the Inver Road area while on Monday August 29 a further search began in the Town Park/Glenarm Road area.

On Wednesday August 31, detectives searched the Town Park, Inver River and Carnfunnock areas, temporarily closing off part of the popular country park to the public.
