In remembrance of Bobby Stott

A poignant Service of Remembrance was held on Sunday last, at Glendermott new Cemetery, to commemorate the 40th anniversary of killing of Robert ‘Bobby’ Stott.

Mr Stott, a former UDR Soldier was shot in the back at Bishop Street as he returned home from work at the nearby shirt factory a short distance from home.

Sunday’s service was organised by Harmony LOL858 in conjunction with William King Memorial Flute Band. The Late Mr Stott was a member of organisations.

A large and representative crowd, including Orange Brethren, members past and present of the Band joined members of Mr Stott’s family for the service.

The Chaplain of the Lodge, Bro Rodney Smith, led prayer and a the hymn was ‘Abide with me’, led by band members, which was also played at Mr Stott’s funeral service 40 years ago.

Two wreaths were laid; one from the band and the other from the Lodge, and the service closed with prayer.

The Lodge Secretary, Chris Sherrard, gave an address on the life of Mr Stott and offered condolences and ongoing support to the family.

The family thanked the Lodge and band members for their kindness to them.
