Dylan Orr, Hawthorne Avenue, Lurgan, was fined £75, with a £15 offender’s levy, last Wednesday at Craigavon Magistrates Court for disorderly behaviour on January 24 this year.

He was also bound over for 12 months in the sum of £200 to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

The court heard Orr was seen crossing Charles Street in Portadown at 11.15pm and he was struck by a car.

Police took him by the arm and as they were speaking to him he began shouting and swearing, telling them to ‘f—k off’.

He was warned about his behaviour but put his fists up to an officer in a threatening manner.

Orr was placed in handcuffs and arrested. Later he calmed down.

A solicitor representing Orr said it was an ‘alcohol fuelled incident’ when he had been out celebrating his birthday.

She added that police were looking after his safety as he crossed the road.

The defendant would apologise to the officers involved, said the solicitor.

District Judge, Mr Mervyn Bates, said Orr had never been in trouble before. He had been given the usual warning by police to calm down but failed to do so.
