Inaugural Youth Awards

THE search is on for dedicated young people from the Ballykeel, Ballee and Harryville areas who have made an outstanding contribution to their community.

The first annual Ballymena South Youth Awards are taking place at the Adair Arms Hotel on March 28 and the public is being urged to get their nomination forms in by March 15.

The awards are open to young people aged 11-18 from Ballymena South, who have shown commitment, dedication and the desire to promote a positive image of the area. The award categories include: Leadership, Arts and Culture, Sports, Education and a Heart of Gold Award for young carers. There is also a Young Adult Award for an individual aged 18-25 who is a positive role model for other young people in the community.

The Awards are being organised by the recently formed Ballymena South Youth Forum in partnership with Northern Ireland Youth Forum and Ballymena South Community Cluster.

Neil Symington of the Northern Ireland Youth Forum said they were keen to celebrate the achievements of young people who have made a real difference to the Ballymena South area.

He said: “March 28 is set to be a fantastic night. On top of the award presentations there will be a series of performances showcasing the talents of young people. All that’s left to do now is for the public to nominate those young people they feel are deserving of a Ballymena South Youth Award!”
