Increase in shoplifter detection

EIGHT out of 10 shoplifters say they don't prefer working in Ballymena.

That is the proportion of commercial crime offender which is being detected in the town’s shops.

Inspector John Allen, of the local PSNI said: “Shoplifting is still occurring in Ballymena but I am pleased to say that detection rates remain high, with eight out of 10 shoplifters being caught.

“This is due to the co-operation between the Town Centre Retailers Against Crime Partnership, the Ballymena Council CCTV operators and the Police. Please report any suspicious activity immediately to shop staff,” he said.
