Information meeting for taxi drivers

NORTH West Taxi Proprietors will host an information session on taxi fares and taximeters in the Rath Mor Centre on Wednesday, January 25, at 11.30am.

We invite taxi drivers to come along, listen and express their views.

NWTP would like to bring it to the attention of all taxi drivers, taxi companies and interested parties including the general public that there is currently a consultation in progress that will end on February 17 on ‘Taxi Fare and Taximeter Regulation’. Consultation details can be found on the DOE website and NWTP recommends that interested parties also read the report from PA Consulting ‘Review of taxi fares and taxi fare structure’ which is also on the DOE website.

The report is very detailed and has a full breakdown of the figures and the rationale for the suggested fare tariffs.

The objectives for introducing a regulated maximum tariff are to increase consumer confidence in the taxi industry, provide greater transparency for taxi users, encourage adequate supply for all types of demand and to enable taxi drivers to generate a reasonable income.

Taxi drivers are welcome at this NWTP event on Wednesday at 11.30am.
