Information on lottery funding

LOCAL groups involved in supporting older people have a change to claim a slice of a £20 million grants package.

The money is being offered by the Big Lottery Fund, which will host an information session on its Connecting Older People programme in Newtownabbey next week.

Northern Ireland director Joanne McDowell explained: “These are tough times for the voluntary and community sector in Northern Ireland and the recession is hitting hard. We know that the most vulnerable people in society are often the worst affected by cuts.

“I am delighted to hold an information session focusing on the Connecting Older People programme that will give local people and community organisations information and guidance about the programme so they can apply for funding.”

The information session takes place at Mossley Mill, Carnmoney Road North, from 2.00pm next Wednesday (September 22).
