Michael Brady, bin-ovation creator, explained: “We developed this app because we wanted to help people recycle more.

“We’re confident that once householders in Carrickfergus download the app and see how useful it is, the amount they recycle will increase.

“The app really does contain all the information you need to help you recycle more in one easily accessible place.”

The app provides the following benefits:

Details of what can and can’t be recycled in your red and black boxes

The Mayor, Alderman Charles Johnston, commented: “The bin-ovation recycling app is the first of its kind in Northern Ireland and it will provide the council’s residents with an easy to follow A-Z list of household waste materials - explaining what can and can’t be recycled.

“For those residents who might forget to leave their bin out, the app can send you a reminder to ensure you don’t miss your collection.

“As a council we are delighted that modern technology can help people recycle more. We hope that by using the bin-ovation recycling app our residents can increase their recycling from home and play their part in protecting the environment. Please download this app on to your smartphone or tablet today.”
