Innovative signing classes for babies

"Wee Signers" is a class set up by Banbridge mum Linda Buchanan in which parents learn to communicate with their babies by using hand signs.

Linda started signing with her first baby three years ago and found it such a useful skill she decided to offer other local parents the chance to learn ‘Baby Sign’.

She said: “The classes are great fun and are suitable for babies from around three months to 18 months.

"You will learn basic practical signs such as ‘milk’ and ‘change nappy’ alongside fun signs for popular songs and nursery rhymes."

Mrs Buchanan added: “Signing builds on a child's natural desire to communicate and teaches them a way to do this before their verbal skills are developed.

“You can start signing with your baby from birth and they will quickly learn to recognise the signs.”

Wee Signers will be coming to Lurgan on Monday, October 4, for ten weeks from 10-11am at the Jethro Centre.
