Inspirational David receives top accolade

A LARNE teenager who was presented with the prestigious Princess Diana Award has been described as “real inspiration” by his proud mother.

David Wharry, 17, a pupil at Roddensvale Special School, was the only person from Northern Ireland to receive the award, which recognises young people who have made a continued and selfless contribution to the community and shown outstanding personal qualities.

David and his mum Andrea travelled to London to accept the award at a ceremony in Canary Wharf, and she told the Larne Times she was “over the moon” for her son.

She added: “David is my rock. He is an amazing youngster who lives to help other people and takes whatever life has to throw at him.
