Inspiring evening for Hillhall WI members
Pat and David Walters, Roberta Jones and Bess Neill, one of the WI’s own members, told of their experiences over the past ten years.
With the help of a Power Point presentation they transported members to life amongst the Kikuyu peoples and spoke of the changes they have been able to make to their lives. They have helped with materials for an old folks home, the local school and have even built a crèche for the pre-school children.

Hide AdThey have introduced the growing of vegetables and the rearing of chickens both to provide food and to generate income for families.
There are now some animals – cows and pigs. Money for the project has been raised from car boot sales, bag packing, second hand books etc. This was a most interesting, inspirational and challenging evening. There was an opportunity to ask questions before a vote of thanks was proposed by Maud Wilson.
The competition for an item from Africa was won by Anna Scott; 2nd: Mildred Robinson and 3rd: Bina Brown. The Birthday Flowers were presented to Lorna Sleator and winner of the ballot was Alice Simpson.
