Installation of officers and Games Day

The City of Londonderry No.1 District LOL will host their annual Annual Games Day on Saturday, March 7, in The Royal British Legion Club, Iona Terrace, Londonderry.

This year’s event is raising money for two charitable organisations, namely The Sperrin Room at Altnagelvin Hospital and the Alzheimer’s Society.

Since 2007 No.1 District LOL have raised £5,085 for various charities, including Parkinsons Disease, MS Foyle Branch, Good Shepherd Respite Cottages, Chest Heart and Stroke, UDR Memorial Trust Fund, Alzheimer’s Society, Londonderry Talking Newspaper and Foyle Down Syndrome Trust.

William Stewart, District Master, has commended all the Lodges and members of No.1 District for there efforts in fundraising over the years. He said the money raised was down to the dedicated organising committee and the many people who had contributed towards all the events staged since 2007.

Registration for The Games Day will open on Saturday, March 7, at 1pm, with the draw for heats taking place at 1.50pm.

The first games will commence at 2pm.

The Games Day is open to all members of the Loyal Orders, their family and friends, who are very welcome. The entry fee will be £10 per person.

Meanwhile, the officers in No.1 District met to install their officers for the incoming term.

Brethren attended a joint Installation event, which saw officers from all the Private Lodges within The City of Londonderry No.1 District LOL take up their new roles for the new term.

The event was held at Victoria Hall, Culmore.
