Institute Reservesbeat Coleraine in league encounter

COLERAINE Reserves travelled to Drumahoe on Friday night in a league tie.

The londonderry outift scored the only goal of the tie after 20 minutes, but despite the scoreline, Coleraine Reserves boss Aaron Forgrave was happy with the display.

“I had a number of young players from the Academy with us for the game, and they didn’t let themselves down.

“Paul Milliken, Ryan Doherty and Harry Shaw have all come up through the ranks, and there’s plenty more that will make the step up.

“We also had Sam Boylan, Karl Steele and Paul Wells who are still young in the squad.

“I was disappointed with the goal we gave away, but it was a good perfomance, with a lot of good football,” said Aaron.

The second string boss picked out centre back Garrett Quinn and winger Ryan Doherty for praise.

Coleraine dominated the second half and should have taken something from the tie, but good defending from Institute’s centre backs thwarted any attacks Coleraine made.

The Reserves are hoping to play a re-arranged fixture this Saturday.

COLERAINE RESERVES: Wells, Wilson (Doherty), Quinn, Steele, Shaw ( Milliken), Moody, Forgrave, Peden, Heneghan, O’Neill, Boylan (Dinsmore).

Meanwhile Coleraine Colts met Ballybogey in a friendly on Saturday. Victor Hunter’s side ran out 2-0 winners.
