Insured man falls foul of law

Although he was properly insured to drive, a Craigavon man ended up with a fine for failing to produce his policy documents to police in time.

Craigavon Magistrate’s Court heard last Wednesday how John Joseph Mulholland, 50, of Enniskeen, was stopped by police in Union Street on May 31.

It was found he had no insurance in place. On June 11 the police system was checked and the defendant had not produced the documents.

His solicitor said when he looked for the insurance documents he realised the insurance company hadn’t sent him a cover letter. By the time he got it, it was past the date.

Mulholland was fined £60 plus a £15 offender levy and reminded it was his responsibility to ensure he had relevant documents in possession.
