Inter-Club Night for Floral Art Group

VISITORS from Antrim, Crumlin and Mid-Ulster Clubs met with Ballymena Floral Art Group in the Leighinmohr House Hotel on October 18 for their Inter-Club Night.

Muriel Whitten welcomed the gathering and after business had been conducted, she explained the format of the evening.

Two members from each club were given a box made up by club members and had 20 minutes to survey the contents before demonstrating an arrangement.

Four very different results were produced which delighted the audience.

Gladys Smyth proposed a vote of thanks to all who took part and to the ladies who filled the boxes.

After supper the competition results were announced as - Intermediate: 1, Audrey Steede. Open: 1, Janet Wilson, second Mary Knox, 3, Heather Hume.

The raffle of the four arrangements plus bunches of flowers saw quite a few ladies take home prizes.

The Club will next meet on November 10 at 7.30pm for an Open Night featured James Burnside as demonstrator.

James, who is well known for his experise in the art of flower arrangement, is a National Demonstrator and will be treating members to his interpretation of ‘Christmas Miscellany’.

The charity benefiting from the event this year is the Alzheimer’s Society and tickets can be purchased, priced 10, from Avril Kidd on 25861550 or Sharon Moon on 29540438. They can also be bought at the door on the night which will feature a Club stall with many great items for sale including containers and books.
