Interim chief executive says goodbye

AFTER two and a half years of service to Craigavon Borough Council, the Chief Executive (Interim) Mr Michael Docherty has said his final goodbyes to staff.

Originally brought in temporarily in April 2008, Council approved the extension of the post first until June 2010 and then for a further three months until Wednesday, September 22.

During his time at Council Mr Docherty’s impact has been impressive with the achievement of 2% efficiency savings per year and the retaining of the prestigious Investors in People status.

The working relationship between Craigavon, Armagh and Banbridge has been greatly strengthened due to Mr Docherty’s leadership during the RPA process while internal communications with staff have been significantly improved following the introduction of regular staff briefings from the Chief Executive (Interim).

Major projects that are currently ongoing include the Public Realm works, the Community Hub and the Future of Indoor Leisure – all of which have come to fruition during Mr Docherty’s time in post.

“I have enjoyed my time at Craigavon Borough Council and I think it’s fair to say that along with the good times there have been plenty of challenging times along the way as well,” commented Mr Docherty.

“Craigavon is an excellent local authority with very hard working officers who provide an impressive range of high quality services for residents. I would like to thank the staff for the commitment and support that I have received during my time in the post – it has been a privilege to have worked with many of the officers at the Council and I appreciate the hard work that takes place.
