‘Invest in Larne’ mobile app launched

Larne Borough Council has officially launched a mobile app designed to promote the borough to a wide audience and encourage investment.

The “Invest in Larne” app provides instant information to visitors and potential investors via their smartphones.

The app has been designed to promote the borough to a very wide audience, highlighting the key economic development selling points of the local area to foreign and direct investors.

The app is sub-divided into ten categories; about us, The Gobbins, leisure and tourism, doing business in Larne, key industries, real estate, business support, recent news, interactive map and benchmarking.

The Council hopes that the app will enable major attractions like The Gobbins to be marketed instantly and cost effectively.

The initiative is supported by Invest Northern Ireland, and part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund under the Sustainable Competitiveness Programme for Northern Ireland.

Launching the mobile app at Larne’s Willowbank Business Park, Chair of Larne Development Forum Councillor Maureen Morrow commented:

“We trust that in the incoming days that people will download the app, share it with contacts, and raise awareness of it among key influencers and agencies.

“The content can be added to as the app grows and develops. We trust that people find the new app an invaluable information source whether they are local businesses, investors or residents.

“It is important that councils, as well as businesses, utilise every digital platform possible to reach customers and I am delighted Larne Borough Council is one of the first councils to have launched its mobile app.

“The council and LEDCOM staff have been trained in the administration of the app because it is a live data source which can be regularly updated and augmented as required. The ‘Invest in Larne’ app, available to download on all Android and Apple devices, was launched on the day the first workshop of the Digital North East project took place, underlining the need to maximise the use of digital technology in business.”

Following completion of a public tender exercise, Invest NI appointed a service provider to work with the councils to develop mobile apps for their specific geographical area.
