Invest NI has 105 acres

INVEST NI continues to hold 105 acres of land - four times the area of the Walled City - for businesses with an immediate “demonstrable property need” in Londonderry but there have been no takers since last summer

The landbank is the largest held by the local industrial development agency in any council area bar Craigavon, where it holds 177.70 acres.

Last June Invest NI Chief Executive Alastair Hamilton wrote to Derry City Council to explain that it held circa 414 acres of land in the Derry City Council area with 105 acres available for “qualifying businesses with a supported business case and an immediate demonstrable property need.”

Now Investment Minister Arlene Foster has revealed that in February 2012 the 105 acres are still available.

She provided the information in response to an Assembly Question from SDLP MLA Patsy McGlone.

The acreage is available across six business parks in Campsie, Skeogue and Maydown.

In Campsie 61 acres remain available out of an overall holding of 244.52 acres worth £3,360,000; in Skeoge 32.4 acres remain available out of 75.18 acres worth £3,170,000; and in Maydown 11.07 acres remain available out of 66.34 acres worth £1,007,500.
