Invest NI has land four times size of Walled City available

INVEST NI holds 414 acres of land (15 times the size of the Walled City) worth £7.5m with 104 acres (four times the size of the land within the Walls) currently available to qualifying businesses, Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster has advised.

The acreage is available across six business parks in Campsie, Skeogue, Maydown, Springtown, Lenamore and Culmore.

In Campsie 61 acres remain available out of an overall holding of 244.52 acres worth £3,360,000; in Skeoge 32.4 acres remain available out of 75.18 acres worth £3,170,000; and in Maydown 11.07 acres remain available out of 66.34 acres worth £1,007,500.

In Springtown, Lenamore and Culmore no more land is available from holdings of 26.23 acres, 0.92 acres and 0.69 acres respectively. No valuation of this land was made available by the Minister.

She outlined the information in response to an Assembly Question by SDLP MLA Pat Ramsey who asked for the current status of the Invest NI Land Bank in the Foyle constituency, including any reserves, the number of sites and their value.

She replied: “Invest NI’s land is held in support of economic development projects brought forward by qualifying businesses with an approved business case and immediate property need.

“Within the Foyle Constituency the agency holds approximately 414 acres across six business parks. Whilst a significant proportion of this has been developed and is occupied by businesses there remains approximately 104 acres available to qualifying businesses.

“Invest NI employs a long term strategy in respect of its land holding and does not hold land in reserve.”
