Investigation continues

THE collision in which James died happened around 6.20pm on Friday.

It involved a blue Renault Vivaro van and red Peugeot.

James had been in the car with 12-year-old Padraig Kane when they’d met the van carrying Padraig’s brother Nathan (18) and Gavin Tighe (26).

James’ sister Anita commented: “Because it involves four friends people have come up with all sorts of rumours. James had been leaving a nearby house with Padraig when Nathan had been coming home. It was a major coincidence that they met on the road.

“I’m disgusted that some papers have been allowed to print speculation. James was a very careful driver. He wouldn’t have been driving dangerously, especially not with a 12-year-old in the car with him.”

His father Tass said: “I’m not interested in what happened one way or another. It’s not going to bring James back.”

Nathan and Gavin have been released from hospital and attended the funeral while Padraig remains in the Ulster Hospital where he is receiving treatment for his injuries.

The circumstances of the collision are being investigated by the PSNI.

Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision to contact them in Lurgan on 0845 600 8000.
