Irish certificates for Loreto students

RECENT Irish classes have proven most fruitful for Year 8 Irish classes at Loreto College Coleraine, Specialist School.

All pupils received their Teastas na Gaeilge (Irish Certificate) by completing one of three challenges: they could conduct a conversation in Gaeilge with their teacher, or with a partner, or they could perform a role-play in front of their classmates.

Raucous laughter filled the Irish rooms as certain candidates entertained their peers in rather a comical fashion in pursuit of their qualification. Following some outstanding performances in roles such as Santa’s elves, television presenters and cheerleaders, it seemed certain that careers in comedy await many Year 8 pupils.

Loreto College’s Irish teachers, Bean U Mhianin and Bean U Mhaolin, commented that they were now eagerly awaiting the next opportunity to view such entertaining and eloquent performances.
