Irish Street session to deal with newcharity regulations

Derry City Council’s Community relations team are providing free charity awareness training to local groups in an effort to create awareness of new Charity Law in Northern Ireland, which comes into effect on December 31 and will affect many local charities and community groups.

The training will take place at the Shared Future Centre, from 10am to 11.30 am on Wednesday, December 17, and is suitable for groups who apply for funding, do ‘on-street’ collections and fundraising.

Sue Divin, community relations officer with Derry City Council said that the training will be useful for groups who are interested in obtaining a charity number and to inform them how they need to keep all their documentation for the Charity Commission.

The course, which is funded through the Council’s Good Relations Strategy, is being facilitated by the Greater Shantallow Area Partnership. Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis with a maximum of two places per group. To register please contact [email protected] tel: 71365151 ext 8225 by Monday, 15 December.
