Island photographers focus on new season

The Islandmagee Camera and Digital Imaging Club has started up again for the new season.

The club is affiliated to the Northern Ireland Photographic Association (NIPA) and the Photographic Association of Great Britain (PAGB). It is a well-established club and welcomes new members at any time throughout the year.

The current membership includes people from various backgrounds, ages, abilities, and equipment who enjoy meeting on a regular basis to provide encouragement to each other and to develop their skills as amateur photographers.

Meetings include guest lecturers, competitions with other Northern Ireland clubs, and hands-on practical sessions in mediums such as portraiture, still life, lighting and photo-editing, followed by refreshments and socialising.

This season will see members get back to basics and focus on beginner’s skills throughout the year. Their first night back was a welcome evening and provided the opportunity to get aquainted with some of the club’s new equipment.

Visitors are welcome to visit for a taster session or two at no charge. On September 17, John McDermott will be speaking about mounting and storage of prints. September 24 is their first NIPA competition of the year, so a warm invitation is extended for visitors to go along. Bob Given will be judging on this night.

The club meets at the Whitehead Bowling Pavilion (across from Whitehead Primary School) each Monday from 8pm to 10pm from September to May.
