It's a dog's day at Downhill!

THE annual charity sheep dog trials took place at Downhill on Saturday.

Organised by Jack and Willard Smyth, the trials were organised to raise money for the 2010 International Fund.

Almost 60 dogs took part, in what was a great day.

Judged by Mrs Ann Watt, competitors found that on the day the sheep were tricky, and many good runs faltered at the shed and pen.

Those who attended were treated to a good days trialling. Some American Tourists called in to watch the trial, and the visitors were amazed at the skilfulness of dogs and their handlers.

Eugene McLaughlin and ‘Bob’ were the winners with a good steady run scoring 83.

Michael Cannon and ‘Glen’ fresh from their win in Tipperrary came in second with 81.

Dean McAuley and ‘Joe’ put up a score of 80 as did Willie Watt and ‘Moy’.
