Its Brown Bin time!

HOUSEHOLDERS will once again be able to take advantage of the highly convenient brown bin system in Ballymoney as collections begin after a short winter break.

As before, bins will be collected fortnightly and are there to make life easier for householders. As a reminder, brown bins can only be used for:

Grass cuttings, leaves, twigs, plants and flowers, weeds, shrubs and prunings and hedge trimmings.

To make it easier to manage, materials should not be placed in plastic bags and food waste should not be included. Unfortunately, due to damage caused to bin lorries in the past, soil and stones should never be included.

Declan Donnelly, Ballymoney Borough Council commented: “Brown Bins have been very well received by the community since their introduction. We are delighted with the response from householders and both the quantity and quality of material we are able to recycle through brown bin collections remains very high.”

Householders are reminded that facilities also exist at the Knock Road and Crosstagherty Civic Amenity Sites for recycling larger quantities of green waste. From 1st April, both sites will be open for extended periods to again facilitate householders. These sites deal with a large range of recyclable materials.
