It’s ‘GR8 to Don8’

In a fortnight world leaders will gather in Northern Ireland to make what could be big decisions for many people around the world.

However next week, Monday 10 to June 14, will see the launch of Northern Ireland Blood Transfusion Service’s (NIBTS) life-saving campaign, ”It’s GR8 To Don8.”

The Service is appealing for members of the public to attend “Summit Really Important,” a blood donation session to give blood and therefore save lives.

Each summer attendances at blood donation sessions can drop as people go on holidays or hopefully enjoy the good weather whenever that arrives! Even a small downturn in attendance at blood donation sessions can have very serious implications for the five hundred patients who receive blood each and every week in Northern Ireland.

A spokesman for the Service, Paul McElkerney said, “Donating blood at any time of the year is important but during the summer or other holiday periods it becomes even more vital.”

Anyone wishing to attend one of these lifesaving special events should call 0500 534 666, visit www.nibts.org, or to enrol text Blood to 60081.
