It’s pantomime time once again at Lisnagarvey High School

Following the success of last year’s Christmas Pantomime, Cinderella, teachers involved found it hard to ignore the outcries for another school production.

At the end of May, auditions were held and, to their surprise, even more talent at Lisnagarvey High School was discovered. Although a lot of new faces appeared this year, a lot of last year’s superstars returned to the stage (some for the very last time).

A spokesperson for the performance has said: “We are excited to have the opportunity to showcase the talent available here, at Lisnagarvey High School.

“We really need to show our appreciation to the supportive parents and pupils of Lisnagarvey High School – we could not do this without you.

“Thank you for the late pickups after rehearsals, for sourcing costumes and for helping pupils with their lines.

“Secondly, the sincerest of thanks goes to Mr Sheerin and all staff members who have been involved in helping us on our journey. Having your support and encouragement from everyone really helped me to believe that I could do it all again this year.

“This pantomime could not have happened without you. We cannot thank you enough for the hard work and dedication that has gone on, behind the scenes, to make this an outstanding performance.Finally, we owe a huge thank you to our wonderful cast, who have worked hard and given 100%.

“We have seen everyone’s confidence soar especially in the final few weeks. It genuinely has been a pleasure working with you all and we hope you enjoyed it too. We have a really talented bunch of stars.It is hard to believe that the shy (and not so shy) have come this far, tears of pride and joy will be shed

“We are incredibly proud of each individual in the pantomime – thank you for your hard work and dedication this year.”

For the second year running, the pupils and teachers involved are finishing for the Christmas holidays on a high.

As soon as the performance ended, the first question Mrs Paden and Miss Smyth faced was, “What are we doing next year?!”
