Jack Pinkerton Endeavour Award 2011-2012 for Patsy

The Jack Pinkerton award was established in 1990 by the Ballymoney Rotary Club in memory of one of its founder members and First President. It is awarded to someone who has made an outstanding contribution and benefit to the community - this year, Patsy Trolan.

Patsy Trolan built up a thriving business in Ballymoney over the years and has given employment to quite a number of people, including giving work experience to school children.

He is a keen golfer and has been Captain of Portstewart Golf Club. Patsy still sponsors and runs a very successful and well supported golf competition in aid of a local cancer charities . He has been a valued supporter of our Rotary Charities and has promoted and sold thousands of tickets for charity over a number of years.

He has donated many prizes for the Club’s tombola at the President’s Dance and was a very hard worker behind the scene. In the past he has supported quite a number of local charities through his business and most weekends, collectors would have been seen outside his shop and, on occasions, the mobile cancer unit parked on his forecourt.

There are many other good works he has been involved with, but typical of the man these have been done quietly in the background and without any fanfare. Although now retired from Rotary and business, Patsy continues to offer support to many good causes and still keeps in touch with his friends and former staff in Ballymoney.
