The big-hearted duo, whose fundraising efforts were publicised in the Newtownabbey Times in December, managed to raise a whopping £2,720.25 for the Glengormley-based charity.

Now, another friend of Stewart and Terry’s, Jacqui Wright, has helped raise further funds for the vital work of Horizon House. Jacqui, who works for Lakeland on Belfast’s Boucher Road, recently raised £500 for the cause, meaning that Stewart and Terry’s total has now increased to a fantastic £3,220.25.

All proceeds from their fantastic fundraising effort will be used to care for local life-limited children and young people.

Accepting the donation at Horizon House and praising everyone who donated, Peter McCabe, local Community Fundraiser for NI Children’s Hospice said: “The money raised by Stewart and Terry, and their friends - most recently Jacqui - will make a big difference to the children and families being cared for by Children’s Hospice in this community. A donation of £100 could pay for one hour of specialist nursing care and therapies, so you can see how far Stewart and Terry’s amount will go; it really is a tremendous achievement on their part.

“We are a local charity providing much-needed care for local children and young people who have a life-limiting condition. As a local service that needs support from the people of Newtownabbey and beyond to continue, we really are delighted to receive this generous donation.”

NI Children’s Hospice is always keen to hear from supporters interested in raising funds for its work. For further information telephone 028 9078 1836 or log on to www.nihospice.org
