He was Liam Lavery, whose address was given to the court as Ardowen, Craigavon, and he admitted the theft of two bottles of vodka from Eurospar in Lurgan on September 10 last year.

The court heard that a man in a blue hoodie came into the store and removed two half bottles of vodka from a shelf.

He then walked straight out without paying for the items.

When CCTV was shown to police one of the officers knew the defendant
and could identify
him.

A barrister representing Lavery said that earlier in the morning he was sentenced in the Crown Court for an assault offence which involved a broken cheekbone.

Lavery was given a two year sentence with nine months spent in custody and 15 months on licence.

The barrister asked the magistrates’ court judge not to add to the sentence.

Lavery was given a three month sentence for the theft to run concurrently
with the Crown Court sentence.
