Matthew McMullen (21), Beresford Green, was fined £250 last Thursday at Banbridge Magistrates Court for possession of cannabis on November 7 last year. He was also ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.

The court heard that when police searched the defendant’s home they found five grams of cannabis. McMullen made a full admission and said the drug was for his own use.

A solicitor said McMullen had been associating with a negative peer group.

He no longer uses cannabis, he added.

District Judge, Mr Paul Copeland, warned McMullen if he continued to ‘wade in the toxic pool’ of drugs he would end up in jail.
