JAM plan to spread word

A NEW faith based group called JAM NI are hoping to set up an outreach project for children in the Craigavon area.

The group is unattached to any church and is led by Moy woman Elaine White. Also playing a key role in JAM NI is Lurgan man Timothy Beggs.

Timothy said: “JAM stands for Jesus And Me. Our aim is to is to provide a service which gives something back to the community.

“We’re trying to get kids clubs up and running on Saturday mornings in a few Craigavon estates.

“The focus is on Ardowen at the minute but we’re planning to move into Garrymore and Clonmeen.”

“Down the line we’re hoping to set up some sort of homework club and a mothers and toddlers group.

JAM NI will be holding their first meeting on Thursday in Brownlow Hub from 7.30pm to 9pm.

On their website their mission statement is listed as ‘In a society where things just happen, JAM will bring Jesus to every child and impact a community’.

Timothy said: “We’re hoping for parents in the area to come along and see what we’re about.

“We’d also like to involve community organisations and elected representatives.

The meeting will give us a chance to explain to people what we’re about and how we plan to work with communities.”
