Japanese Centre represented at PEACE III conference

THE PEACE III conference on cultural integration held at the Rosspark Hotel near Ballymena, was attended by Jeffrey Balmer and two of his senior students from the Japanese Cultural Centre in Ballymoney, who can be found at [email protected] .

The Japanese Cultural Centre caters for many aspects of Japanese life including being the only centre in the UK and Ireland authorised by Otake Sensei to teach the ancient samurai art of Tenshin Shoden Katori Shinto Ryu.

The PEACE III group showed great interest in adopting the model of integration used by the Japanese Cultural Centre and serious ongoing discussions are to continue with the group.

Over the summer a number of cross community activities are taking place with Origami (paper folding), Shodo (calligraphy), including a unique demonstration of the only Okinawa'n arts taught in the UK of Goju Ryu Karatejutsu and Kobujutsu.

Cross community groups have already invited the Japanese Cultural Centre to give talks and demonstrations across the province, the first engagement being with a Hindi community group.
