Jay joins Celtic victory lap

Jay and his dad Martin were at the game and were overjoyed when their beloved Celtic lifted the Scottish Premiership trophy.

But their elation didn’t end there and to their shock and surprise Celtic Manager Neill Lennon spotted little Jay, who has Downs Syndrome, in the crowd as his team were doing a lap of honour and handed the 10 year old his well-earned SPFL Scottish Premiership medal.

Plus Jay’s Celtic hero Georgious Samaras plucked the Tannaghmore Primary School student from the 60,000 crowd and took him to join the lap of honour.

The crowd roared little Jay and the team as they lapped up the thronged Celtic applause.

And not only that, Jay was still in Samaras’ arms when Sky Sports did an interview with him which was beamed across the world.

Jay and his dad travelled with the Lurgan No 1 Supporters Club for the final game of the season and little did he know that once again his little face would be beamed to millions around the world.

Jay’s dad Martin said; “Firstly Neill Lennon spotted Jay in the crowd and came straight over to him and gave him his medal.

“Samaras is his favourite player so he couldn’t believe it when he came over and took him round the pitch for a lap of honour.

“It was a fantastic experience for him,” said Martin.

“For his mother Aine back home in Lurgan this nearly caused her phone and Facebook to go into melt down as his picture was posted around the world. To top it off Celtic striker Kris Commons presented Jay with his football boots. It’s fair to say that wee Jay left Glasgow one very happy Bhoy,” said Martin.
