Jay thanked for hard work by ministers

Jay Beatty was the guest of honour at Stormont this Monday as the First Minister Peter Robinson and his Deputy Martin McGuinness thanked him for his hard work in promoting inclusion for children with disabilities.

His father Martin said: “We had a private tour of Stormont and then a private meeting with the first ministers who could not have been any nicer.

“Despite his promise not to mention Celtic FC it lasted all of one second before Jay blurted out his love for them much to the amusement of Peter and Martin. They thanked Jay for all his hard work in promoting inclusion for children with disabilities. They also took time to listen to my wife Aine who discussed our charity Downs and Proud and our aims and ambitions for our charity and the future education of all our children.”

“It was a very proud day and we could not have been treated any better.”

Down’s and Proud is a website founded by Jay’s mother Aine to raise awareness about Down’s syndrome and to provide support and information to parents. The website can be found at www.downsandproud.com
