Jean’s dignity and courage recalled

Jean was the dearly loved wife of Eric and her home call leaves a tremendous void with all.

Jean McKnight (nee Parke) was born on January 14, 1954 and was a native of the Rathfriland district.

As a young woman in her late teens she cam to saving faith in the Lord Jesus Christ on April 18, 1973.

Jean and Eric were married in the Gospel Hall, Victoria Street, Banbridge, 39 years ago and she remained a member of the Assembly until her passing.

Jean was of a friendly disposition and a good conversationalist with an outgoing personality who took a genuine interest in people.

Her working life spanned across various offices in the district. After a short period in Brookfield factory and National Farmers Union office, Jean moved to the Northern Bank, Hill Street, Newry, as a cashier - a post she held for 17 years before moving closer to home to the First Trust, Banbridge and lately to the Accounts department of Ballykelly Joinery.

The funeral took place from her late home on Friday last, to Banbridge Gospel Hall for a service of thanksgiving for Jean’s life.

The vast number of people in attendance was testimony to the esteem in which Jean was held. The service was taken by Mr David Radcliffe who gave a challenging address, assisted by Mr Samuel Dawson who led in prayer.

The hymns “How Bright that Blessed Hope” and “I Stand Amazed in the Presence” were sung.

Interment took place at the New Cemetery and Mr John Rodgers officiated at the grave side assisted by Mr Andrew Petrie.

Family flowers only, were placed at the grave. Donations in Lieu of desired are being sent to Macmillan Nurses and Marie Curie c/o James Minnis & Son Funeral Directors, Bann House, 33 Castlewellan Road, Banbridge, BT32 4JQ.

She is predeceased by her sister Irene at the young age of 37 years, survived by her husband Eric and brothers Ivor, Leslie, Norman and Noel, sister-in-laws Helen, Haletta and Sue, brother-in-law Robert and wife Yvonne, nephews, nieces and to them and the entire family circle our condolences go out at this time.

James Minnis and Sons were entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
