The former DUP member who made the switch to the UUP in 2015 along with her husband John, lost her seat in Lagan Valley last week.

Last night she was labelled a “Lundy” and told in no uncertain terms to leave Culcavy in a series of threats from a person posting on social media as Paul Hood.

She shared the threats on Twitter and Facebook, commenting that she felt “vulnerable”.

She posted: “Feeling vulnerable tonight! Sad some threaten democracy in ignorance. Thanks to PSNI for their support. Family 1st.”

She was inundated with messages of support on her Facebook page and Twitter account following the threatening messages.

Mrs Palmer quit the DUP after claiming she had been bullied and joined the Ulster Unionists along with her husband in 2015.

She won a seat for the UUP in Lagan Valley at the last election, but lost out this time out.

When she was eliminated at the sixth count, a number of her transfers went to SDLP’s Pat Catney who was then elected ahead of DUP’s Brenda Hale.
