Jerry to make final NI appearance in Gilford

AMERICAN Country singer, Jerry Hanlon, will make what is being promoted as his final personal appearance in Northern Ireland on Thursday February 24 at the Gilford Legion.

This show will be in support of Northern Irish entertainers, The Heggarty Twins and Ann Moore.

Hanlon has performed periodically in various parts of Ulster and the Irish Republic since 1987. His name is well known to Irish radio and Irish Country music fans.

A veteran American performer of proud Irish heritage, Jerry has a long history of performing in country music venues across America, including guest appearances at the famed Grand Ole Opry in Nashville and many Irish venues in Chicago and Cleveland, Ohio, among others.

A protege’ of the late Mrs. Jimmie Rodgers and Country legend Ernest Tubb, he has recorded some 16 collections of American and Irish country music.

Jerry is known for his humanitarian gestures and generous efforts to assist aspiring Irish artists in their musical aspirations. He was named the first honorary president of the Gateway Centre in Banbridge in the 1990’s following a series of performances at the Centre and the area’s Special Schools.

In May of 2008 the Gilford Legion was a packed house for his promotional show and his hope to further the career of The Heggarty Twins from Markethill through their collaboration CD release.

Local female artist, Ann Moore, dubbed the ‘Songbird of County Down’, was a part of that show. Taken by her outstanding vocal performance, Hanlon has since produced a new CD production for her, and also The Heggarty Twins and himself.

All three CD releases will coincide with this launch show to be held on February 24.

Headlined by Jerry Hanlon, the lineup of talented Northern Irish artists for the show includes the backup band, Breakaway, Downtown Radio’s Warren Smyth, The Heggarty Twins, Ann Moore, Amanda Robinson, Radio Star’s Cowboy Larry, John Greene, Seamus Delaney, and newcomer Michelle McGee.

There will be a chance to win a 50 door prize with paid admission (MUST be present to win) and other door prizes and favours are promised through the course of the evening.

Doors open 8pm-12:30am. Admission is 10 per person at the door. Jerry extends a personal request and invitation to his many Irish friends and fans and those of all the talented artists scheduled for the show, to come out for a great evening of Country music entertainment.
