A Largymore Primary School student has cut her hair and donated it to the Little Princess Trust.

Jessie-dee Allen, 9, also fundraised for the charity and managed to raise £751.19.

Jessie-dee’s mum Stacey said that she came up with the idea herself.

“She came up with this idea of donating her hair to the Little Princess Trust who make wigs for children that have lost their hair due to treatment,” she said.

“So we thought it would be a great idea considering we have a very close friend of the family (15) who was diagnosed on Boxing Day with a stage four glioblastoma to the brain and lost her hair due to treatment.”

Kenneth Michael hair salon on Woodstock road provided Jessie-dee’s hair cut.

“They were a great great help,” Stacey said. “Kenneth himself cut her hair and instead of charging us for the cut he donated the cost of it to the charity.

“I would like to thank him for this.

“Jessie-dee would like to raise awareness for this charity and hopefully inspire other children to do the same.”

The Little Princess Trust is a children’s cancer charity and their mission is to supply real hair wigs to children suffering with cancer, for the duration of their treatment.

It also assists children with other conditions which also result in hair loss, the most common being alopecia.

Despite being set up to help children with cancer, the Trust is able to supply children that do not have a cancer diagnosis with a single wig.

While they are unable to commit to supplying more than one wig, they hope that this gesture will help the child and family whilst they decide on their long-term plans for dealing with this condition.
